You’re Welcome is the debut solo album from Cokie the Clown, AKA, Mike Burkett, AKA, Fat Mike from NOFX. But make no mistake this is not a NOFX album.
- This Cokie the Clown record is really personal. So personal, only a handful of people might understand what some of these songs are about. The hardcore NOFX fan will recognize many of the songs on the 10-track album are about Soma Snakeoil, Fat Mike’s second ex-wife, a professional dominatrix whos.
Cokie the Clown is an EP by NOFX released on November 24, 2009 through Fat Wreck Chords. The EP was released as a single 5-song CD, and two separate 7' vinyl records dubbed Cokie the Clown and My Orphan Year. The tracks on this release were written and recorded during the Coaster sessions.
Negative Reel Has A Message For Us In New Music Video

Negative Reel from Cokie The Clown is the second release from the upcoming album Punk Rock Saved My Life. And it comes with a music video. But, in a sense it’s a lyric video as well. For me, this is one of the most clever projects Fat Mike has done in his entire music career. And when you watch it, you’ll truly understand. But, only if you’re familiar with NOFX and his alter ego.
Negative Reel talks about a lot of strange and bizarre things. However, there’s a lot of depression and pain in this video that commentates on personal choices and passions. Oddly enough, this has a poetry vibe to it. There isn’t a hook, or a happy melody to go with this.
Society judges thru a black and white prism!? Leaps me too cynical pessimism. Are the first words we are introduced to. By both, audio and visuals.
What does this mean for the rest of the album? Well, I have a feeling it’s going to have that Heckles and Macabre duality. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that at all. Based on what I’ve listened to from this album already, Punk Rock Saved My Life and now Negative Reel there could be layers to this album that may take a few listens to fully gather. But, even then will we still fully understand the message from this alter ego?
Final Thoughts
Honestly, I couldn’t listen to this song enough. Simply because, I couldn’t understand if it was being literal, figurative, or both. Perhaps, maybe we can find out more by listening to the album. And I think there’s some positivity in Negative Reel. You just have to listen to it, with a different perspective.
