High Voltage Engineering - J R Lucas, 2001 202 With convertor A operating as rectifier, and convertor B operating as invertor, the steady state current under all circumstances will remain within the upper limit (I ds + I dm) and the lower limit I ds. That is, the system direct current will not change by more than I dm under all operating conditions. A complete quantitative description of the topics in high voltage engineering is difficult because of the statistical nature of the electrical breakdown phenomena in insulators. With this in mind, this book has been written to provide a basic treatment of high voltage engineering qualitatively and, wherever necessary, quantitatively.

INTRODUTION:

This course is intended to provide a basic introduction to the theory of High voltage circuits linked with operation and characteristics of the liquid, gaseous and solid materials. The students should be introduced to high voltage generation, measurement, transient and insulation breakdown.

OBJECTIVES:

1- To understand the principles of theory of high voltage generation and measurements.

2- To understand the operation of high voltage power supplies for ac, dc, and impulse voltages
